Become a coach

What is Needed to be an AYSO Coach?

Every AYSO Coach must be registered as a Volunteer for the current year, complete the AYSO Safe Haven on-line course, the CDC Concussion on-line course, and the Sudden Cardiac Arrest course at AYSOU.org.

Additionally:

  • 6U Coaches must complete the 6U Coach Online Course (2 hours) available at AYSOU.org, We will also have instructor led field training in-person offered throughout the summer, dates to be determined.
  • 8U Coaches must complete the 8U Coach Online Course (2 hours) available at AYSOU.org.  We will also have instructor led field training in-person offered throughout the summer, dates to be determined.
  • 10U Coaches must complete the 10U Coach Online Course (1 hour) available at AYSOU.org. We will also have instructor led field training offered throughout the summer, dates to be determined. Field training is mandatory for 10U.
  • 12U Coaches must complete the 12U Online Coach Course (1 hour) available at AYSOU.org.  We will also have instructor led Field training offered throughout the summer, dates to be determined. Field Training is mandatory.

In order to coach their team, every Coach/Assistant Coach must be authorized by San Bruno AYSO.

Also, effective 2022 all coaches must complete the Safesport Training found in Sports Connect and must complete Livescan for AYSO. (More details regarding Livescan to follow.)

How can I register for Coach Training/Complete Online Coach Training?

 

  • First, register as a volunteer at Sports Connect:  San Bruno AYSO- Region 249. You will be directed to Sterling, who administers the background check for AYSO. Please complete the Sterling background information. This needs to be done yearly. You can opt for AYSO to pay the administrative fee.

 

Then while on your Sports Connect Volunteer Page, click on the AYSOU button to be directed to the AYSOU training site where you will have access to take the following online courses:

 

  • “Safe Haven”- for Safe Haven, Concussion, and Cardiac Arrest Classes. (If you have taken them recently in the past, you may not need to take them again this year.)
  • "Online Coaching Courses- 6U, 8U, 10U, 12U, or 14U"
  • Instructor led field training, dates coming soon
